Reflection
Today’s reading felt like a direct continuation of yesterday’s. Yesterday, the cards challenged me to develop greater discernment and structure. Today, they seem to explain why that has been so difficult.
The present card, Limitation, immediately made me think of the prison of my own thoughts. I know I have a tendency to become trapped in negative thinking, replaying failures, worrying about outcomes, and convincing myself that I should somehow be doing better. Those thoughts create limitations that are often far greater than the actual circumstances I’m facing.
Looking back, the reversed Hanged Man speaks of stagnation. Rather than seeing things from a fresh perspective, I remain suspended by my own thinking. It’s not that I lack opportunities to move forward—it’s that my internal dialogue often prevents me from taking the next step.
The future card gave me pause. The reversed Queen of Swords, or Harshness, made me realize that the criticism I direct toward myself can unintentionally spill over onto the people around me. When I’m frustrated with myself, those who work with me may interpret my mood or comments as criticism of them or their efforts. In reality, the frustration is almost always directed inward. This reading reminds me to be careful that my self-doubt doesn’t become someone else’s burden.
The As Above card, Departure, may contain the most practical advice of the entire reading. I can’t always stop negative thoughts from appearing. They simply arise. But I don’t have to stay with them. I can acknowledge that the thought has arrived, recognize it for what it is, and then leave it behind. The invitation isn’t to eliminate negative thoughts; it’s to stop traveling with them.
The Knight of Cups in the As Below position feels hopeful. It suggests the possibility that someone may soon come forward with an offer, encouragement, or assistance. Whether that’s an opportunity, a collaboration, or simply support from another person, I’m reminded that I don’t have to carry every burden alone. At this point in my journey, I would gladly welcome genuine help.
The final lesson comes from the reversed Wheel of Fortune, appropriately named Bad Luck in this deck. I found this card surprisingly comforting. Not every setback is a reflection of my worth or ability. Sometimes the wheel simply turns against us. Success and failure aren’t always earned; sometimes they’re simply the result of circumstances beyond our control.
Perhaps that’s the real lesson today. I don’t control every outcome, but I do control how I respond to them. I can choose to leave negative thoughts behind instead of allowing them to define my day. This is the big “lesson” I want to learn. I cannot control that a negative thought enters my mind. I can, however, choose to reframe it. If the thought pops into my mind, “People don’t care about you, they only care about Idaho 4. When Idaho 4 is over, you’re over because you’re nothing special” I can just simply nod and say, “I acknowledge that’s possible BUT that shouldn’t stop me from doing what I want to do. I’m just going to keep doing me.”
More importantly, I need to be mindful that my internal struggles don’t become outward criticism of others. And when life doesn’t go my way, I can remind myself that not every disappointment is personal.
Sometimes the wheel simply spins. My responsibility isn’t to control where it lands—it’s to decide what I do after it stops.

You know, the more I get to know you, the more I realize how alike we are. Again, I can relate to everything you just said on a deeply personal level. Those negative thoughts can cripple us if we let them. It took a long time, but I eventually trained my brain so that when negative thoughts seem to be bombarding me, I now see a mental STOP sign. That means STOP and REDIRECT! That doesn’t stop the negative thoughts, but instead makes me more aware of what’s going on before I get so overwhelmed with them that it paralyzes me.
I am not sure you understand the impact you truly have on people, so I’m gonna tell you. YOU TEACH, YOU INSPIRE, YOU ENCOURAGE CURIOSITY AND CRITICAL THINKING. Your channels have become a place I can go and express my thoughts and feelings, a place to seek and learn, a place where I’ve even gained some friends. It has become a constant in my life, which was something I really needed. As for asking for help, I can’t help but laugh because I am always being fussed at for not asking for helping and thinking I should do everything myself. I don’t know what you need help with, but all you have to do is ask and I will help in whatever way I can and I know for a fact that others would do the same. Keep up the great work! Idaho 4 will come and go, but you are building something much bigger.
