Question:
How can I help her?

Three-Card Spread:

  • Past: The Dagger
  • Current: Imposter Syndrome
  • Future: The Skeleton

My Interpretation:

Today’s reading came almost instantly, without the usual period of reflection. The moment I turned the cards over, the story seemed to present itself as a complete picture.

My immediate impression was that the Dagger in the past represents someone—specifically a man, in my intuition—who was not who he appeared to be. He presented a false image of himself and ultimately betrayed her. The betrayal felt personal and devastating, like being stabbed in the back by someone she trusted.

The Imposter Syndrome card in the present position seemed to suggest that this betrayal did more than simply hurt her. It damaged her sense of self. Rather than seeing the deception as a reflection of the other person, she may have internalized it, leaving her questioning her own worth, doubting herself, and struggling with feelings of inadequacy.

The Skeleton in the future position gave me the impression of emotional death or deep depression. My first instinct was that this chain of events has left her feeling hollow, stripped of her self-worth, and emotionally lifeless.

What struck me most about this reading wasn’t its complexity but how immediate it was. Normally I spend time sitting with the cards before forming an interpretation, but this one arrived almost fully formed as a first impression. Because it came so strongly, I chose to trust that initial intuition rather than overanalyze it.

As always, I recognize that intuitive readings are subjective. This interpretation could be mistaken. It is simply the impression the cards gave me in response to the question I asked, and I record it here as part of my ongoing journal with the Path of Shadows deck.

  1. I think there will be many women who can relate to this drawing, including myself. Many women and men who have been emotionally, mentally, and verbally abused will be able to relate to this. It is a betrayal, not just by that person who was supposed to love us, but I know I feel like I betrayed myself, in a way, by staying for so long. I did feel dead inside and still struggle from the damage of all that toxicity. And maybe, this was a lesson for all of us who are or have gone through this. That is a reminder that we are not alone and that we can heal and emerge as queens (though hopefully, not evil ones).

  2. JC I felt very much the same, and can relate to what you said. I feel I betrayed myself for ignoring the same red flags I have ignored in the past. I can relate to all 3 cards, and felt them right away. The is a healing journey for me.

    1. It is definitely a journey and not a sprint, but remember you are not alone, even when it feels that way! You’ve got this! Three big lessons I’ve learned, one is that I did the best I could with what I had at that time, the second is to give myself grace and the third is to remember my thoughts and feelings are valid and no one should ever make me feel they aren’t.
