July 12, 2026 — Reflection, Allure, and the Danger of Trying to Save Someone

Question

What should I be thinking about today?

Three-Card Draw

  • Past: The Mirror
  • Present: The Evil Queen
  • Future: The Nymph

My Interpretation

I spent some time contemplating these cards before an interpretation began to take shape. The Mirror in the past position immediately suggested that I should reflect on my own history. More specifically, it brought to mind a woman from my past who, in hindsight, reminds me of the Evil Queen.

She entered my life during a period when I believed she was struggling and needed help. I tried to support her, but my efforts gradually pulled me into an unhealthy relationship. There was a seductive quality to the situation, represented by the Nymph, but the attraction was accompanied by serious danger that I did not fully understand at the time.

This woman struggled with bipolar disorder or borderline personality disorder, and I was unprepared for the intensity and instability that could accompany those conditions in her particular case. Over the course of my life, she has existed both as a temptation and as a profound source of danger. During severe episodes, her behavior became unpredictable enough that I sometimes feared for my own safety or the safety of people close to me.

The combination of the Evil Queen and the Nymph seems to represent that mixture of allure and danger. She could be captivating, persuasive, and difficult to resist, while also being deeply destructive. The Mirror asks me to examine what happened and recognize the pattern: I saw someone in distress, believed I could help, became emotionally entangled, and ultimately placed myself in a situation that caused lasting harm.

I want to be very clear that I do NOT believe this reading is describing the woman I have been reading about during the past week. I am not drawing a comparison between the two women, nor am I suggesting that the current person has the same personality, motives, or capacity for danger. For God’s sake, I’m not saying this person is a Borderline Personality. This is self reflection only.

Instead, I believe the recent readings have caused me to examine my own tendency to become concerned about people who appear wounded or troubled. Others have correctly pointed out that it may not be my role to help another person with problems that I do not fully understand, particularly when that person has not asked for my help.

Today’s reading feels less like a message about somebody else and more like a warning drawn from my own history. The cards may be asking me to reflect on what happened the last time I believed I could rescue someone. Compassion can be valuable, but it does not require entering another person’s chaos. Attraction, curiosity, and concern can also make it harder to recognize when involvement is becoming unhealthy.

The lesson is not that every troubled person is dangerous. The lesson is that I need to respect the limits of what I can understand, what I can change, and what responsibility actually belongs to me. I can care about somebody without assuming that I am supposed to save them.

The Mirror points backward so that I can learn. The Evil Queen represents the danger I once failed to recognize. The Nymph represents the allure that made it difficult to walk away. Together, the cards remind me that sometimes the wisest and safest form of help is to maintain distance and focus on my own life.

  1. Maybe your existence is enough. Maybe you’re already changing people’s lives in ways you’ll never know.

We naturally look for proof that we’ve made a difference, but some of the biggest impacts are never seen or measured.

Years ago I remember a particular tough day,. I dragged myself to the bakery after grocery shopping with my daughter, just wanting to get in and get out. The girl serving me had no idea what I was carrying. She gave me a smile that felt like it literally touched my soul, she looked directly in my eyes, and gave me a compliment that I don’t remember because it was nothing big, but I do remember I looked as bad as I felt that day and the little thing she said I actually believed her.

Something shifted in me that day. It didn’t just make me feel better for five minutes—it changed the direction of my whole day, and that flowed into many things that could have easily taken things in a different turn.. More than seven years later, I still remember her face and how she made me feel. She wouldnt have clocked that interaction in her memory bank, but it was a significant event for the course of my journey so just as important as a lifesaver saving a drowning swimmer , it really is.
She wasn’t trying to change someone’s life. She was simply being herself.

Maybe that’s what you’re doing too with the gift your yet to fully discover and embrace but it’s doing its natural thing without you even knowing.

Take the weight off thinking you have to take a cup of water out of your tank to fill some one else’s you’ll end up empty.
I truly believe you will soon practice more Self-acceptance — embracing a part of yourself without judgment.

    1. This was an amazing story. I’m often baffled how people react when I do things that seem like no big deal for me to do, but that one seemingly insignificant thing for me to do or say brings out wonder in others. When that happens, at first I get sad because it seems so simple to be kind to others, and there is simply not enough of it in this world. Then I realize I have no control over others, so I just show gratitude to the universe that I was able to show kindness, and I hope people pay it forward. Kindness doesn’t cost us anything, but as you just said, just one nice comment or gesture can mean the world to someone, and maybe alter their course for the better as it did for you. It really filled my cup to hear this story, so thank you so much for sharing!

  2. Good interpretation. I think you are on to something. Being an empath is tough, especially when it comes naturally. Just pay attention to the red flags.

  3. Wow, Lee, just wow! You are taking these cards and really doing some serious self-reflection and coming to realizations that you may not have if you hadn’t started this journey. I feel like this was a big personal growth moment for you. Unfortunately, sometimes we don’t see the real impact people had on us for a long time, and sometimes we bury it so deep that we just let it fester inside us and not learning from that what we were meant to learn. Tarot and Oracle cards have been a great tool for me for personal growth, whether that be reflecting on the past, or giving me a different perspective of things, or even sometimes just flat out telling me that I’m not on the right path and need to adjust. It is said every deck you come across was meant to come to you for one reason or another and I truly believe that. You are only halfway through and I feel you are connecting more and more with the cards and truly feeling the depth of what they have to say. Great job, keep going!
